About Us

Established in 1985, Charupith Art Research Institute is one of Bangladesh’s leading organizations dedicated to art, culture, education, and research. Through children’s art education, cultural festivals, exhibitions, and community engagement, Charupith has inspired creativity and cultural awareness for more than four decades, reaching thousands of young artists and communities across the country.

Our Philosophy

Charupith believes that the seed of art must be sown in childhood. Artistic awareness developed in a child’s mind can transcend the boundaries of family, society, nation, and time, and contribute to a more creative and humane world. This philosophy guides our art schools in Jessore and surrounding villages, where children are encouraged to explore creativity, nature, and culture in an atmosphere of freedom, joy, and Bengali traditions.

To date, nearly 8,000 children have participated in Charupith’s educational programs, many of whom have pursued higher studies and successful careers in the arts and creative professions both in Bangladesh and abroad.

Art, Research & Practice

Charupith is not only an educational institution but also a vibrant center for artistic practice and research. The institute maintains studios for painting, sculpture, printmaking, and crafts, hosts national and international exhibitions, and supports artists through research fellowships and residency opportunities. Its modern art gallery has organized more than 150 exhibitions, earning recognition from artists, scholars, and art lovers across the country.

The Charupith Art Library, equipped with books, slides, digital resources, and internet facilities, supports the study of aesthetics, art theory, and world art, while ongoing initiatives continue to expand and enrich its collection.

Our Vision for the Future

Looking ahead, Charupith aims to further strengthen its role as a model institution for art and cultural development. One of its major long-term initiatives is the creation of an Artist’s Village—a creative rural environment that will combine art education, artist studios, traditional crafts, research facilities, and cultural festivals within the natural landscape of Bangladesh.

Commitment

For more than forty years, Charupith has remained committed to connecting art with every aspect of society and life. Through creativity, research, education, and cultural engagement, we continue our journey toward building a more inclusive, enlightened, and culturally vibrant society.
